Paying for AI APIs and developer tools with USDT or USDC
Some API and developer-tool providers let you add funds with stablecoins. The mechanics differ from a monthly subscription, so it helps to know what to expect. This page covers the process only; it is not financial advice and says nothing about prices.
The usual flow
- Sign in to the provider’s dashboard and open the billing or credits page.
- Choose the crypto option and an amount to add. Providers often set a minimum.
- Pick the coin and the network shown on the invoice. See which network is which.
- Send the exact amount before the timer ends and wait for the balance to update. The how to pay checklist has the details.
Things to know
- Prepaid balance. Many crypto top-ups add credit that you spend as you use the service, instead of starting a recurring charge. Check whether credits expire.
- Refunds. Unused credit is often non-refundable or handled case by case. Read the provider’s billing terms before topping up a large amount.
- Same account, same limits. Paying in crypto does not change rate limits, usage rules or which models and features your account can use.
- Network fees. The fee for sending the transfer is paid by you, separately from the amount on the invoice.
